Engineered biomaterials and surface chemistries to control cell adhesion, differentiation, and organoid integration.
The interface between biological systems and engineered materials represents a critical frontier in biomedical engineering. Our group specializes in developing novel nano-biomaterials, surface functionalization techniques, and smart polymers to actively guide cellular behavior.
By tuning the mechanical, topographical, and biochemical properties of these materials, we can direct stem cell fate, promote specialized tissue differentiation, and seamlessly integrate synthetic matrices with living organoids. This capability is pivotal for developing edible biopolymer scaffolds for cultivated meat, advancing regenerative therapies, and formulating robust microenvironments for complex functional assays.
